SKS Foundation distributed huge household goods at a ceremony among 650 destitute families of Dakshin Kahuriar Char village in Chilmari upazila of Kurigram in the flood and erosion-prone areas on Thursday afternoon.
The household goods were distributed under the disaster preparedness programme with assistances of Souhardo-II Programme of CARE Bangladesh and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Government of Bangladesh.
Under the programme, ten items including plastic sheet, canvas clothe, dish, ‘Kolos’, ‘Balti’, ‘mog’, mosquito net, glass, candle, rope and other goods were distributed among each of the beneficiary families to assist them in facing floods and river erosion.
With Technical Officer of SKS Foundation Moshiur Rahman Pradhan in the chair, Chairman of Noyarhat union Ataur Rahman attended and addressed the distribution ceremony as the chief guest and distributed the non-food household goods.
Editor and Publisher of the Weekly Juger Khabar, being published from Chilmari in Kurigram, SM Nurul Amin Sarker attended the ceremony as the special guest.
