District Shilpakala Academy accorded reception to five cultural personalities here on Saturday for their outstanding contribution in the cultural arena.
A discussion was also held with member secretary of Shilpakala Academy Abu Sufian in the chair on the premises of Independence Square of the town here in the evening.Mahabub Ara Begum Gini MP addressed the function as the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner M. Ehsan-E-Elahi was present as the special guest.Speaking on the occasion the chief guest thanked the Academy for such initiative to encourage the cultural personalities to continue their artistic activities.DC M. Ehsan-E-Elahi said the present government had taken up different steps to take the art and culture of the country ahead and accordingly, five cultural personalities here had been accorded reception.Later, five cultural personalities received crests and certificates as award from the guests. The award recipients are poet Saroj Dev, drama actor Faruque Shiar Chinu, musician Durgapad Bhatyacharjee, singer Monoranjan Modak and folk singer Abdul Kafi Bayati. -BSS, Gaibandha
