Five people were arrested along with 2,970 pieces of Yaba tablet, three bottles of Phensidyl and some hemp in a drive at Shibpur village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening.
The arrested were identified as Shamsunnahar, Enamul Haque, Hamida Begum, Mahfi Begum and Shahrul.Additional district magistrate Kamaluddin Ahmed said the officials of Department of Narcotics Control along with executive magistrate, police and members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) conducted a drive at the house of one Abul Hashem in the area around 7:30pm and recovered the contraband items and arrested the five from the spot.
Abul Hashem is one of the listed drug traders of the area, he added. -UNB, Gaibandha
