A court here on Thursday convicted 31 Awami League activists and sentenced them to three years imprisonment each in case filed under Speedy Trial Act.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more RI.The convicts are Abul Khasem, Shihab, Manu, Ajgar, Motaleb, Asad, Hossain, Ful Miah, Nurul Islam, Chandu, Sohel, Kalam, Chat, Naba, Manjur, Hridoy, Mehedi, Motiar, Atiar, Moshiar, Idris, Ujjal, Tuhin,Polash, Shadi, Mimul, Rafiq, Jahan, Mamun,, Sumon and Kalam(2)- all are residents of Atharokhada village.According to case details, Pachu Sheikh, a lcoal Awami League leader, was stabbed to death at Atharokhada village in sadar uazpila on September 9, 2012.As a sequel to the murder,30 to 40 Awami League activists of the village had attacked some BNP men with sharp weapons and vandalised their houses.Nabab Mollah’s wife field a case under Speedy Trial Act.After examining the records and witnesses, senior judicial magistrate Abbasuddin handed down the verdict. -UNB, Magura
