A young man was chopped to death allegedly by his cousin at Raghunathpur village in Damurhuda upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Shahin, 25, son of Abdur Razzak of the village.
Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Shahin and his cousin (son of paternal uncle) Dalim over the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to the dispute, they again involved in an altercation on Friday morning.
At one stage, Dalim hacked Shahin in the head with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured.
The injured was rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Model Police Station Ahsan Habib said the incident occurred following an altercation over taking hemp.
Dalim went into hiding soon after the incident, added the OC. –UNB, Chuadanga
