At least 20 people, including five policemen, were injured in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir activists and police in Harishpur Bypass area of the district town on Monday morning.
Police arrested three Jamaat-Shibir men in connection with the clash.
Witnesses said a group of activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir brought out a procession as part of their central programme in Harishpur Bypass area at about 8:00 am.
When they reached near Ekata Clinic in the area, police chased off the Jamaat-Shibir men dispersing their procession and a clash ensued.
The Jamaat-Shibir activists started hurling brick chips at the law enforcers.
At one stage, the law enforcers lobbed teargas shells and fired rubber bullets on the Jamaat-Shibir men, leaving 15 activists injured.
Five policemen were also injured during the clash.
The injured were admitted to Christian Missionary Hospital. -UNB, Natore
