Powerful quake jolts Bangladesh

A strong earthquake jolted the capital and some other parts of the country on Wednesday night. The quake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shook Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Bogra and Pirojpur at 10:25pm, said Met office. The epicentre of the jolt was the Bay of Bengal, 681 kilometres southwest from the Seismic Observatory Centre at Agargaon. There was no immediate report of any damage or casualties in the earthquake. – UNB
