A court here today sentenced one person to death for killing his wife at Naluapara area of the town in 2010.The court also fined him Taka 50,000.The District and Session Judge Ms. Lutfa Begum, who is also the judge of Woman and Child Repression Control Tribunal, pronounced the verdict.The convict is Badiuzzaman Badsha, son of late Sajal Miah of the area.The prosecution story, in brief, is that Badsha strangulated his wife Jannatul Islam Jenny to death on January 25, 2010 as she had refused to bring money for him (as dowry) from her father’s house.The victim’s father Joinal Abedin filed a murder case after that with Narayanganj Sadar thana against him.Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court against Badsha.Later, the judge examining the witnesses and evidences announced the judgment.
