Khaleda asks her advisers to strengthen party base

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday asked party leaders to play their due roles from their respective position to strengthen organisational base of the party.
During a meeting with member of her advisory council last night she also called upon the party rank and file to get prepared for the movement for holding of elections under a non-partisan government.The former premier observed that the “government coming to power through voter less lopsided election” cannot be given more time.
“We have to take to the streets soon. The government has to be complled to hold the election under a non-partisan administration,” she added.
The closed-door meeting began at 9:00pm at chairperson’s Gulshan office lasted for three hours
The meeting discussed the latest development in the political arena and organisational matters.
“The chairperson has exchanged views with us. She give us a patient hearing while we discussed the issues of movement and organizational matters,” said vice chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council and also an adviser to BNP chairperson.
Advocate Mahbub Hossain, Reaz Rahman, Shajahan Omar, Mahmudul Hasan, Ukil Abdus Sattar, Prof MA Mannan, Fazlur Rahman Patal, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, AZM Zahid Hossain, Ahmed Azam Khan, Prof Majedul Islam, Zahurul Islam and CCC mayor M Manjur Alam, among others, were present at the meeting.
BNP acting secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was also present.
As part of her series of parleys, the BNP chairperson will hold a meeting with party vice chairmen and joint secretaries general at her office at 8:00pm Tuesday. – Staff Reporter
