Political Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam today said a section of media distorted his statement tactfully to demean him.
“Some print and electronic media portrayed my partial speech to give wrong message to the nation” he told a press conference at the Awami League(AL) President’s Office at Dhanmondi in response to a widespread criticism of his speech delivered at a function on the Dhaka University campus.Economic Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Moshiur Rahman, Health Affairs Secretary of AL Dr Badiuzzaman and other leaders of the party, among others, were present on the occasion.
At the press conference, Imam said, “I was invited to a function hosted by Bangladesh Chhatra League on November 12 on the occasion of Jail Killing Day. My speeches were distorted massively aiming to change its real essence to misguide the people of the country.” “The main objectives of my speech were to advise the students to study hard to get jobs,” he added.
Imam said, “Duration of my speech at the programme was 47 minutes. It will be clear what I wanted to say, If my full speeches were made public.”
He said a vested quarter is launching propaganda in style of Goebbels to divert people’s attention from the huge successes of the government.
Referring to previous six examinations of Bangladesh Civil Service, Imam said as many as 18,606 candidates were recruited in the BCS examinations. But the present government did not make any interference in the recruitment process of these examinations, he said.
The present government believes in merit-based recruitment in the all government services, which were reflected in the job recruitment in the past five years, the adviser said.
He mentioned that members of law enforcement agencies and other government officials discharged their duties during the 10th parliamentary election showing highest professionalism. But some media distorted these speeches too, he added.
