Two assistant proctors of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) tendered their resignations on Sunday, three days into the killing of a student in Bangladesh Chchatra League (BCL) infighting on the campus on Thursday.SUST assistant proctors Niloy Chandra Sarkar and Abu Awal Mohammad Shoyeb submitted their resignation letters to proctor Himadri Shekhor Ray, university sources confirmed.Himadri Shekhor Ray said they mentioned personal reasons for their resignation.
He also noted that the final decision in this regard will be taken after the vice chancellor of the university returns India on November 26.
Earlier, Sumon Das, 22, an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed and 17 others were injured in a factional clash of the ruling party’s student wing over establishing supremacy on the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus on Thursday morning. Later, the university authority announced the university closed sine die. A three-member probe committee, headed by SUST Prof Ilias Uddin, has been formed to investigate the incident.UNB, Sylhet
