Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two people, including an Indian national, along with contraband Indian goods from two buses at Shyamlagacchi on Benapole-Jessore road in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Saturday.
The arrestees were identified as Nazrul Islam, 40, a bus helper and son of Majibor Rahman of Bhabarber village and Mohammad Ullah, 33, son of Rabiul Sheikh of Shabharpur village in North 24 Pargana district of India.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-6 intercepted two buses of ‘Souharddya Paribahan’ on Dhaka-Kolkata route in the evening and recovered the Indian smuggled goods worth TK 10 lakh, police said.
The seized goods include Indian medicine, 275 bottles of Phensidyl and liquor.
The seized goods were deposited to Sharsha Police Station.
A case was filed.
