Khaleda arrest, her office search on warrant receipt: Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday emphasised conducting a search in the Gulshan political office of the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and said that arrangement for her arrest would be made when the court order reaches the Gulshan police station.
“The court has already directed for a search in the Gulshan office of Khaleda Zia. I want to assure the lawmaker that when the order reaches the Gulshan police station, the office will be searched and necessary arrangement would be made for her arrest,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina added that searching the Gulshan political office of Khaleda Zia is very much necessary as it is a mystery why the BNP leader has been staying at her office instead of her residence,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this while replying to a question from Tariqat Federation member MA Awal (Lakkhipur-1) in the House during her question answer session.
Accusing Begum Zia of embarking on genocide, Sheikh Hasina said the BNP leader, in fact, is now not a leader of the people, she is now a militant leader.
“The work she is committing is a militant act. Any sensible person cannot burn people to death,” she said.
The Prime Minister said the BNP chairperson wants to establish a militant rule in the country as she has turned herself into a militant leader. “Her only work is to claim the life of the people by burning them and harm the country,” she said.
Responding to another question from ruling party lawmaker AFM Bahauddin Nasim whether the trial of the killers would be held in a special tribunal, the Prime Minister said the law would take its own course and none is above the law.
“Those who played ducks and drakes with the life of the people must be brought to the justice. It’s a matter of time…it’s a desire of the people and whatever the people want would be executed,” she said.
