Jhenaidah -An alleged criminal was killed in a gunfight between his cohorts and police at Madhupur graveyard in Sadar upazila early Saturday.Hasan Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said a gang of criminals were taking preparation to commit crime in the area around 3:00 am.When a patrol team of police went there, the criminals hurled 4/5 crude bombs and fired shots targeting them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight. At one stage, a gang member was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while their other associates managed to flee.Later, police recovered the body.Two police constables were also injured in the incident.Police also recovered one pistol, three rounds of bullet and some sharp weapons from the spot.The body was taken to Sadar Hospital morgue.(UNB)
