The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday sent a letter to Bangladesh Oil Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) authorities seeking some documents for the purpose of its inquiry, according to sources.
ACC deputy director Ahasan Ali served the letter seeking information about all recruitments, tenders and development works details of the last four years of Petrobangla and its 13 companies, said an ACC official.
He said the commission asked Petrobangla authorities to submit the documents within March 16.The official said the anti-graft watchdog on Sunday launched an investigation into the allegation of corruption by Petrobangla chairman Hussain Monsur.
In association with some of his associates, Hussain Monsur allegedly appointed a number of employees in its 13 companies ignoring the rules in the last four years, he added.
The 13 subsidiaries of the Petrobangla are– Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited, Sylhet Gas Fields Limited, Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited, Gas Transmission Company Limited, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited, Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited, Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited, Sundarban Gas Company Limited, Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited, Barapukuria Coal Mine Company and Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Limited. – Staff Reporter
