ACC director Saifuzzaman laid to rest at Azimpur Graveyard

Jalal Uddin Mohammad Saifuzzaman, director (Administration) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) who died from the coronavirus, was laid to eternal rest at Azimpur graveyard in the capital on Monday afternoon.

He was buried at the graveyard around 4:10pm.During his burial, his body was wrapped in protective equipment while those attended the burial process were also seen draped in personal protective equipment.

The ACC director tested positive for coronavirus seven days ago and was undergoing treatment at Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital in the city’s Uttara area.He succumbed to the disease today, said Alimuzzamn, administrative officer of the hospital.

Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad said the ACC director had pre-existing asthma and respiratory complications.

Bangladesh on Monday reported three more deaths from the coronavirus, taking the number total death toll to 12. IEDCR Director Meerjady Sabrina Flora said 35 were infected with coronavirus in the last 24 hours raising the number to 123.

Earlier Health Minister Zahid Maleque said four people died from the coronavirus and 29 others tested positive in the last 24 hours.
