AFC Cup: Abahani Coach wants players to upgrade attitude

Dhaka  – The Portuguese coach of Dhaka Abahani Limited Mario Lamos wants players to upgrade their attitudes and think of winning the 2nd leg match of the AFC Cup play-off against Maziya Sports & Recreation Club in the Maldives capital of Male on February 12.

Abahani coach Mario said “We have to upgrade our attitudes if we want to win.”

The team will fly for the Maldives on February 9 and their return leg will be held on February 12.

In the recent past, Bangladesh national football team and any club team of Bangladesh couldn’t win in Male.

With a conviction to break the record, Lamos said “We can make a new history, and we’ve the ability to win against them, our players have the strengths, they just need to upgrade their mentality, I’ll work on it.”

With six days remaining, Abahani coach will concentrate on players’ psychology, he said, “We’ll start training from Friday. First of all I’ll identify the mistakes of the last match and will plan for next match”.

The Portuguese coach of Abahani gave hints of change the strategy for the next match, “We will apply different strategies as we’ve to win.”

Abahani made 2-2 goals draw in home match against the Maziya SRC on Wednesday, so Abahani have to win or have to make draw with more goals than scored in the last match to stay in the race, otherwise Maziya will through in the next stage.

Last edition of AFC Cup, Dhaka Abahani played in the Zonal Semi Final play-off. Maziya SRC of the Maldives will leave Dhaka on Friday.UNB
