Airtel, Teletalk to share infrastructure

Private mobile operator Airtel Bangladesh Limited has recently signed an agreement with state-owned operator Teletalk Bangladesh Limited on sharing infrastructure.
Chris Tobit, CEO and Managing Director of Airtel Bangladesh Limited and Mujibur Rahman, Managing Director of Teletalk signed the Memorandum of Understanding at Airtel Corporate Office in Banani.
Senior officials from both companies were present during the signing ceremony. This infrastructure sharing between Airtel and Teletalk will be another milestone for the telecom industry’s infrastructure sharing business, the operators said.
In order to reduce passive network and save national resources, BTRC has highly encouraged telecom operators to share infrastructure to ensure optimum usage
This infrastructure sharing will enable Teletalk to utilize the passive infrastructure of Airtel across the country and will allow both the operators to be cost effective and competitive by increasing the utilization of existing passive infrastructure at sites.
This will significantly benefit the consumers by increasing the availability of communication services, increasing consumer choice and reducing the cost of services. – UNB
