AL leader Quader urges people to have patience over Dengue

Dhaka, Aug 02 – Calling upon the people to have patience the ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said the government has been working sincerely to control the dengue outbreak that took a serious turn this year.“We are serious about curbing dengue outbreak. We have taken the dengue outbreak as a challenge.
The process of bringing effective insecticides is going on. Everything will be normal soon…just have patience,” the ruling party spokesperson said.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister was talking to the media before conducting his party-led countrywide cleanliness campaigning to create awareness among the people about dengue outbreak, at the party central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city yesterday.
Replying to a query over bringing effective insecticides for dengue the minister said: “We are now receiving suggestions from experts so that ineffective insecticides are not imported. Effective chemical for curbing dengue is being brought as per the suggestions of experts for which we will have to have patience. There is no lack of sincerity here.”
“The dengue situation has taken a serious turn in the country. We are worried about it. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now on an official visit in London, is also worried about the country’s dengue situation. But the dengue situation is not out of control,” he said.
The AL general secretary said there is no way to deny that dengue has spread all over the country. He said the health ministry, the local government ministry and the city corporations are working in a coordinated way as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes and control the dengue outbreak.
Along with the government, Awami League also has taken action programmes to engage people in tackling the dengue situation, he added.
The minister said there is no dearth in Medicare facilities as people are receiving treatment round the clock at hospitals.
He also criticized BNP leaders for giving only lip services instead of taking any effective measures to control dengue outbreak.
