DHAKA, Aug 28, 2020 (BSS) –Police arrested a member of outlawed Neo-Jamatul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB) on Thursday in the city.
The arrestee, Shibbir Ahmad, 22, had alleged made financial transactions with the international militant groups.“A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him from East Bashabo area under Sabujbagh Police station at around 5pm”, said the DMP.
Police said Shibbir had connections with overseas militants and made financial transactions with different foreign nationals for strengthening the organization and to carry out sabotage.
Shibbir passed Dhakhil in 2017 from Sayedia Dhakhil Madrasha in Bashabo and worked as ‘muazzin’ in different mosques in the capital. He worked at the media wing of the outlawed militant outfit since its birth, said CTTC sources.
Police recovered a mobile phone, five jihadi books and a bank cheque book from his possession.A was filed against him with Sabujbagh police station.
