Amitava Mukherjee enthralls Dhaka audience

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre organised a musical evening by  Shri Amitava Mukherjee from India at Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh in the city. the musical soiree was held on  October 22.

The artiste was accompanied by Pallab Sanyal on tabla, Ruptana Sensharma on keyboard, Partha Pratim Guha on octopad, Shahid on dhol and Shakil Mohammad Dipan on guitar. Gaudiya Nritya dancers Shatabdi Acharya and Rachel Priyanka Perris also performed at the event.

The artiste rendered—-Tomar Kache E Bor Magi, Sathok Jonom Amar, Dhakar Dak, Bhoy Ki Morone, Kabyo Sangeet and Gono Sangeet (Sukanta Bhatttacharya & Bishnu Dey etc. Saontal songs, Gaudiya songs with Gaudiya dance.

Shri Amitava Mukherjee is the son of renowned Music Director Shri Sunil Mukherjee and disciple of Shri Hemango Biswas. He is one of the founder directors of Gaudiya Nriya Bharati, Kolkata, a leading Institute of India engaged in research on Traditional Music and Dance of Bengal. He is a Research scholar and well known Vocal Artist. He has completed M.A. in Rabindra Sangeet from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He is an empanelled artiste of ICCR, Rabindrasadan, AIR etc.

Shri Mukherjee has directed and composed different types of music for Dance-Dramas, Documentary Films and other Bengali songs. He has been awarded Senior Fellowship in Gaudiya Sangeet by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He is also guiding students and scholars who have received Senior National Scholarships and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture. He is also working as an Examiner in Music in Rabindra Bharati University. Revival and composition of more than 50 songs on Gaudiya Nritya goes to his credit. He has released five music albums namely, Desh Bidesher Gan, Anandadhwani Jagao, Janmabhoomi, Sokol Rosher Dhara, Mahabisshe Mahakashe.
