Amu urges India to withdraw non-tariff bariers to Bangla goods

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Friday said non-tariff barriers to trade (NTBs) should be withdrawn for easy entry of Bangladeshi products into Indian market.
Withdrawal of non-tariff barriers would further strengthen the trade relations between Bangladesh and India, he said, addressing a meeting with visiting Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) members and industrial entrepreneurs at his residence in the city.Emphasising on people-to-people connectivity of the two countries, the minister said Indian visa processing system should be made simpler to increase the conncetivity among the people.
Mentioning that the government is establishing 20 economic zones to attract foreign investments, Amu said Bangladesh has been giving priority to the Indian entrepreneurs to invest in the country as India is the closest neighbor of Bangladesh.
India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) president Mohammad Ali; ICC president Roopen Roy, its former president Jagdish Prasad Chowdhury, for chairman of Confederation of Indian Industries (Eastern) Sanjay Budhia were, among others, present in the meeting. – UNB
