Anarchy in movement’s name to be dealt with strictly: Quader

Dhaka, Feb 08 – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said anarchy in the name of movement will be dealt with an iron hand.“If you want to wage a movement, you can do it. It’ll be faced politically. But any attempt to create anarchy will be dealt with strictly. Because, it’s the responsibility of the government to protect the lives and property of people,” he said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a views-exchange meeting with the AL MPs from Dhaka city and the mayor-elects of the two Dhaka city corporations at the AL President’s Dhanmondi political office.
Referring to the BNP’s threat to go for a movement, he said they are familiar with such threats. “BNP is threatening to wage a movement against the court,” he said.
Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that they will stage demonstrations across the country on February 15 demanding their chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release from jail. – UNB
