A court in Dhaka issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday against model-actress Mounita Khan Ishana in a defamation case which accused her of making derogatory comments about a producer while shooting for a play titled Shohojatri.
Actor-Producer Maruf Khan filed the Tk10 million defamation case at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on February. According to the case statement, Ishana posted defamatory words against him on Facebook.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchana issued the arrest order against Ishana, as the accused failed to appear before the court in compliance with its earlier order, said M Tofazzal, process server of the court.
Ishana, however, claimed that she did not receive a summon from the court.
The court fixed June 27 as the next hearing date for the case.
