Dhaka – The girls’ doubles event of the Asian 14/U Series Tennis advanced to the final on the 2nd day of the tournament at the Ramna National Tennis Complex here on Tuesday.Mashfia Afrin (BAN) and Saajida Razick (SRI) pair beat Masuda Begum (BAN) and Humira Akter Rimi (BAN) 6-1, 6-0 while Khushali Modi (IND) and Zainab Patel (IND) partner defeated Jarin Sultana Jolly (BAN) and Sadia Afrin (BAN) 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 to reach the final.
Besides, the boys’ and girls’ singles matches moved into the semifinal stage on the 2nd day at the same venue.
In the boys’ singles, M Roman Hossan (BAN) beat Yasin Ahad (BAN) 6-4, 6-3;
Zubad Utsho (BAN) outplayed Zaidh Zihar (SRI) 7-5, 6-2; Mahadi Hasan Alve (BAN) crushed Md Forhad Islam (BAN) 6-2, 6-3; and Shanto Bepari (BAN) trounced Shawon Pasi (BAN) 6-1, 7-5 to make semifinal berths.
In the girls’ singles, Khushali Modi (IND) beat Sadia Afrin (BAN) 6-4, 6-3; Saajida Razick (SRI) defeated Zainab Patel (IND) 6-2, 6-3; Mashfia Afrin (BAN) beat Masuda Begum (BAN) 6-1, 6-1; and Jarin Sultana Jolly (BAN) outplayed Dipannita Mitra (BAN) 6-1, 6-1 to book seats for the semifinals.The semifinal matches will be held from 10am on Wednesday.UNB
