Dhaka -Two Korean girls–Gi Woo Choi and Yeong Eun Ryu-reached the girls singles final of the Bengal Plastic Asian 14/U Series Tennis Tournament eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the Raman National Tennis Complex here on Wednesday.In the day’s semifinals, Gi Woo Choi eliminated her compatriot Eun Ji Jung by 6-0, 6-0 games while Yeong Eun Ryu beat Shravasti Dev of Bangladesh also by 6-0, 6-0 games.Meanwhile, three Bangladesh boys -Emon Islam, Rakib Hossain and Ranjit Sarkar -qualified for the boys’ singles semifinals eliminating their rivals in the quarterfinals at the same venue.In the boys’ singles quarterfinals, Maxwel Heward of Hong Kong beat Sunny Nuzzaman of Bangladesh by 6-4, 4-0 (retired), Emon Islam of Bangladesh defeated Rakesh Ratnasingham of Sri Lanka by 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 games, Rakib Hossain of Bangladesh defeated his compatriot Shawon Pasi by 6-0, 6-1 games while Ranjit Sarkar of Bangladesh beat his country-mate Dayan Sheikh by 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 games at the same venue to the reach event’s semifinals.The boys’ and girls matches will be held on Thursday at the same venue.UNB news agency
