Asian Basketball: India beat hosts Bangladesh 90-31

Dhaka – India got off to a flying start in the four-team Treat FIBA Asia U-18 Basketball Qualifiers for boys beating hosts Bangladesh by 90-31 points in the opening match at Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.The winners led the first half by 57-13 points.Bishal Kumar caged 15 and Bala Dhaneswar scored 12 for India while Mohammad Ali contributed 9 and Sajib caged six points for Bangladesh,AP/UNB News Reported.
In the day’s other matches, Nepal defeated Sri Lanka by 65-64 points after dominating the first half by 30-25 points while India, in their 2nd match, beat Sri Lanka by 127-52 points after leading the first half by 73-21 points.Secretary of the National Sports Council Ashok Kumar Biswas inaugurated the two-day tournament in the afternoon organised by Bangladesh Basketball Federation AKM Moinul Islam Moin, Head of Marketing and Sales, and Shakhawat Ahmed, brand manager of PRAN Confectionery Ltd, were also present on the occasion.Four nations — India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh — are competing in the competition sponsored by Treat Dairy Milk Chocolate and Fruitfill Gum of Pran-RFL Group.The champions will be entitled to play in the final round of the FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship to be held in Iran on July 15-25.
