Dhaka – Three Bangladeshi players-Mashfia Afrin, Suborna Khantun and Mahadi Hasan Alve-advanced to the quarterfinals in Division-2 matches of the ITF Asian Under-14 Development Championships 2019 in the Thai capital Bangkok on Wednesday.In the girls’ singles, Mashfia Afrin (BAN) beat Karma Yuden Dorji (BHU) 6-0, 6-1 while Suborna Khatun (BAN) beat Isha Shree Shan (NEP) 7-5, 4-6,1-0 (Retired) to reach the event’s quarterfinals while another Bangladeshi Sadia Afrin was eliminated from the event losing to Varbhara Liubchenko (KGZ) 1-6, 1-6.
In the boys’ singles, Mahadi Hasan Alve (BAN) beat Hamid Isral Gul (PAK) 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 to qualify for the quarterfinal while Zubaid Utsho (BAN) lost to Amir Ali Ghavam (IRI) 5-7, 3-6 and was eliminated from the event.
Md Roman Hossain (BAN) beat Chirag Timilsina (NEP) 2-4, 5-4, 13-11 in a position deciding match of the boys’ singles.UNB
