Dhaka, Apr 15 – A 15-day-long bird exhibition begain with a seminar on Saturday at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM). Bangladesh Bird Club and National Museum jointly organized the exhibition titled ‘Bangladesh, a Land of Birds’ and a seminar.
Advisor to Prime Minister for Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Dr. Towfiq-e- Elahi Chowdhury attended the opening ceremony as special guest while Chairperson of the Board of Management of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Selina Hossain was present as special guest.
They said in the ceremony that destruction of accommodation of birds, lack of food, use of excessive pesticide and imbalance of environment are contributing to the extinction of birds heavily.
Speakers emphasized increasing awareness among people about the life style of birds, bird conservation, and significance of birds to the environment to protect the bird from extinction.
Director General of National Museum Faizul Latif Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech while Trustee of BMA Hashem Khan presided over the session.
A total of hundred species of birds have been put on display in the exhibition which were not displayed in the last exhibition.
Alongside, the seminar titled ‘Bird conservation In Bangladesh, India and Nepal’ was also held in the same day at 3pm at Nalini Kanta Bhattasali auditorium of BMA.
The exhibition will end on April 29 while it will remain continued every working day from 10 am to 5am. – UNB
