Famed allrounder Shakib Al Hasan scored a brilliant ton and well supported by opener Tamim Iqbal saw Bangladesh amassed a massive total in their first innings scoring 433 for all in 158.5 overs against Zimbabawe in the second Test of Bashundhara Cement three-match Test series held on Tuesday at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
In reply, Zimbabwe stared their first innings in the afternoon and scored 53 in 19 overs for the loss of one wicket at stumps.Brian Chari and Hamilton Masakadza were on the crease with 21 and 15 runs as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Earlier, ace all rounder played an impressive knock of 137 runs off 180-ball hitting 18 boundaries and two over boundaries while overnight batsman Tamim Iqbal supported him with a priceless century of 109 runs off 332-ball with the help of 10 boundaries, after Bangladesh resumed their first innings on the second day (Tuesday) with overnight score of 193 for 3.
The innings, however, could have been longer. But left hander Tamim was deceived by a delivery of Hamilton Masakadza and got caught by Craig Ervine on his 109 runs.
The long-awaiting ton came though Tamim failed to prove himself on the first Test. He kept his patience, remained steady and played more than 300 deliveries to reach the three figure mark.
Tinashe Panyangara and Tendai Chatara and Malcolm Waller bagged one wicket each conceding 49, 61 and 65 runs respectively. – BSS
