Bangladesh are more experienced than us: Morgan

Dhaka – Bangladesh and England are gearing up for their battle in the ICC Men’s World Cup which is scheduled for Saturday. Before the match, England captain Eoin Morgan said this set-up of Bangladesh team is more experienced than the hosts.

“It is going to be a very tough game for us. They are really a good bunch of guys. They have played plenty of cricket. The senior guys of Bangladesh team have ample experience which is more than ours. So, they are definitely a threat for us,” Morgan told a pre-match press conference at Cardiff.

The most experienced five players of Bangladesh– Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad — have appeared in a total of 990 ODIs. Three of them — Mashrafe, Mushfiqur and Shakib — played more than 200 ODIs each.

England, on the other hand, have only Morgan who played more than 200 ODIs in his career.

“I can still remember that time when Bangladesh beat Australia in 2005 at Cardiff. Since then, they have played a lot of cricket, which made them a stronger side now,” Morgan further said.

In the last two battles in the World Cup, Bangladesh came up victorious against England. Morgan said they did not forget that.

“In the last World Cup in 2015, we lost to Bangladesh. They played very good cricket, and they were deserving winner of that match,” he added.

Bangladesh and England enjoyed the similar kind of fate at the start of the World Cup as both of them beat South Africa in their tournament openers. At the same time, both of them lost their respective second games.UNB
