Bangladesh beaten handily by Sri Lanka in fight for bronze

Dhaka – Bangladesh finished outside of the medals in the men’s volleyball competition of the 13th South Asian Games, after being beaten comfortably by Sri Lanka in the playoff for bronze at Tripureshwor Covered Hall in Kathmandu on Monday.

Fierce rivals India and Pakistan will play in the competition’s final on Tuesday (December 3) to decide gold and silver.

Earlier, Bangladesh were eliminated from the title race after being beaten even more comprehensively in straight sets by Pakistan in the 2nd semifinal on Sunday.

Bangladesh men’s team reached the semifinals as Group A runners-up thanks to winning a 5-set thriller against hosts Nepal in a keenly contested first match, despite losing the other group fixture against India in straight sets.

Bangladesh women’s team meanwhile failed to even make it out of their group in the volleyball competition.UNB
