Dhaka, July 12 – Health authorities in Bangladesh on Sunday reported the detection of another 2,666 coronavirus patients in 24 hours after conducting 11,059 tests, which is the lowest since June 3 when 12,510 samples were tested. With this, the total number of infections rose to 1,81,129 since the first detection of the disease on March 8.
During the period the country registered death of 47 patients, the highest number of death in a week, which increased total number of fatalities to 2,352.
Besides, 5,580 more people have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 93,614.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
The detection rate of new patients on Sunday has been recorded all-time high 24.11 percent while the overall rate of infection since March 8 rose to 19.54 percent.
Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 50.93 percent and the mortality rate is 1.28 percent in the country.
Dr Nasima highlighted that so far, 1860 male and 492 female died from the deadly disease.
Among the new deceased, 36 were male and 11 were female. “Their age-based analysis says, one was between 11 and 20 years, two were aged between 21 and 30 years, three between 31 and 40, four between 41 and 50, 15 between 51 and 60, 14 between 61 and 70, six between 71 and 80 and two more were between 81 and 90 years,” she said.
Twenty- three patients died in Dhaka division, six in Chattogram division, four in Rajshahi division, six in Khulna division, two in Barishal division, two in Rangpur division and four others died in Sylhet division in the last 24 hours.
According to DGHS data, 50 percent patients died in Dhaka division, 26.28 in Chattogram, 5.14 in Rajshahi, 5.14 in Khulna, 4.38 in Sylhet, 3.61 in Barishal, 3.10 in Rangpur and 2.34 percent died in Mymensingh division, said Dr Nasima.
Age-based data recorded since March 11 show that 0.61 percent of the deceased were below 10 years, 1.15 percent were between 11 and 20 years, 3.23 percent between 21 and 30, 7.06 percent between 31 and 40, 14.50 percent between 41 and 50, 29.80 percent between 51 and 60 and 43.66 percent were above 60 years.
Forty -three of 47 new deceased died at hospitals across the country while four others died at home.
Across the country, 737 more people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 909 were released. During the period, 2,531 people were home and institutionally quarantined and 2,900 were released – UNB
