Bangladesh cricket team start journey in Washington

DHAKA – The Lion Squad, a cricket team fully owned by expatriate Bangladeshis, have started their journey in the US capital of Washington.The team, formed with the Bangladeshi cricket fans, were launched through distribution of team jerseys among the players and sponsors at a simple function held at Wolkquan Park in Virginia on April 3.Mohammad Sakib and Mohammad Shihab will lead the squad as the first captain and vice-captain respectively, according to a press release received here today.

Other members of the team are Ifti, Arman, Bappy, Nasir, Ishan, Kabir, Rahat, Salat and Omar.Samir Haque, a businessman, Razib Haque, the owner of Partner Real Estate, the main sponsor of the squad, Dilal Ahmed, the owner of Fairway Mortgage Corporation, another sponsor, Mohammad Sumon of Front Tech and writer and journalist Shibbir Ahmed spoke at the function, among others.Mohammad Sakib, the skipper of the team, said they would take part in different cricket tournaments to be held in greater Washington.(BSS)
