Bangladesh looking forward to practice session in Queenstown

DHAKA – The Bangladesh national cricket team is looking forward to make them fully prepared ahead of the limited over series against New Zealand as they are set to begin their five-day practice camp in Queenstown.

The team had already reached in Queenstown after completing their 14-day quarantine in Christchurch. During their quarantine period, they trained in small groups and got an opportunity to acclimatize the weather of the country.

Now a full-fledged practice session with full squad would help them further for a good preparation, according to the ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal.

“We’ve some practice session in Queenstown and we’ll also play a match there. We are keenly waiting for all of those,” Tamim said in a recorded video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today.

“We had practiced in small group during the isolation period. From tomorrow, we will practice with full squad. We are looking forward to that,” he added.

Tamim thanked New Zealand government to make their quarantine period a hassle free. “We were in the bio-bubble earlier but we never stayed in isolation. But to be honest, they took care of us well. The way they smoothly managed all the things, only thanks will not be enough. To be in isolation is not an easy thing but they tried their best to make all the things comfortable for us,” he remarked.

Last time when Bangladesh toured in New Zealand, they had to leave the country, keeping it unfinished due to a terrorist attack on a Christchurch mosque. Bangladesh team also narrowly escaped the attack, something what is
still vivid in Tamim’s memory.

Tamim, however, didn’t want to remember those incidents. “It was an incident that still haunts us. It needed a long time to overcome from this traumatic situation. This is my fifth tour in the country. This is really a nice country nice place to visit and I am always keen to come here again and again. So I don’t want to remember that horrible incident,” he informed.

Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series, which is the part of the ICC ODI Super League and three-match T20 International series here.BSS
