Bangladesh move 4 notches up in FIFA ranking; 44th in AFC ranking

Dhaka -Bangladesh moved up four places to 188th from 192nd slot in the FIFA International Ranking.

The apex body of the world football published their latest ranking containing 211 member countries on Thursday.

The ranking of Bangladesh was upgraded with 909 points, two points better than their previous score of 907.

Besides, Bangladesh ranked 44th among the 46 Asian nations as per the updated AFC rankings securing 193 points.

Meanwhile, Belgium remained top in the FIFA ranking while world champions France in the second slot, followed by Brazil.

World Cup runners-up Croatia are in the 5th spot followed by England.

However, European powerhouse and former world champions Germany and Latin American Argentina are not among the top 10 countries.

Germany are in the 13th place while Argentina in the 11th slot.

Among the South Asian countries, India topped the list clinching 101th spot in the FIFA ranking while Myanmar are in 140th, Afghanistan 149th, Nepal 161st, Bhutan 186th, Pakistan 200th and Sri Lanka are in the 202nd spot.

In the AFC ranking list, Iran remained at top while Japan and Korea Republic are in the 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Of the South Asian nations, India are in the 18th place, Nepal in 34th, Bhutan in 39th, Pakistan in 45th and Sri Lanka are in the 46th spot.UNB
