Bangladesh national killed in BSF firing

Dhaka, July 08 – A Bangladesh national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Indian territory across Kiranganj frontier in Chapainawabganj district on Sunday night.
The dead body was supposed to be of Dulal Uddin, 18, son of Shafiqul Islam of Kiranganj Jharutola village under Binodpur union of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
Commanding officer (CO) of 59 battalion of BGB Lieutenant Colonel Mahmudul Hasan said that a group of cattle traders went to India crossing the border to bring cattle on Sunday night. At this the BSF forces of Shukhdevpur camp in Malda district of West Bengal opened fire on them killing one on the spot, he added. He further added that however BSF did not confirm whether the deceased was an Indian or a Bangladeshi. The national identity card and photograph of Dulal was handed over to BSF and after matching them with the dead body BSF would confirm it on Wednesday, he said again. – Staff Reporter
