Bangladesh place 9th in ICC women’s T20I rankings

Dhaka – Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team ranked 9th as the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday launched a separate global Women’s T20I Team Rankings to drive the growth of the game through the shortest format.The separate Women T20I ranking table has seen the lights, following a decision taken earlier this year to award international status to all T20 matches among member countries.
Bangladesh secured the 9th spot with earning 193 points, just five points ahead of the 10th ranked Ireland.
Three-time Women’s World Twenty20 champions Australia lead the inaugural 46-team table with 280 points while the New Zealand [277 points] are three points behind and England are just a further one point behind with 276 points.
The current Women’s World Twenty20 champions West Indies are ranked 4th with 259 points followed by India as are a further with 249 points.
The top-10 lineup of the table completed with South Africa [243 points], Pakistan [227 points] and Sri Lanka [207 points] three other teams placing 6th to 8th spots respectively.
All the teams, played minimum six T20I matches in the previous three to four years remained on the rankings table.
The list included nine sides from Europe, 14 from Asia, 13 from Africa, four each from East Asia Pacific and the Americas, apart from Australia and the West Indies.
Scotland [150 points] are the top ranked Associate Member in the 11th following Thailand in the first table.
However, Bangladesh placed 9th in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings table, updated on Friday, having 49 points while Australia dominated the table with 140 points.UNB
