Bangladesh’s coronavirus fatalities soared to 3,822 on Thursday after the health authorities announced 41 new deaths.
Meanwhile, another 2,868 people were diagnosed with coronavirus in the last 24 hours. So far, Bangladesh has confirmed 2,87,959 cases.The country announced its first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
Since the beginning, 1.4 million samples have been tested — 14,059 of them in the last 24 hours. Of them, 20.46 percent were positive, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a statement.
DGHS said 3,253 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 1,68,991. The recovery rate rose to 58.69 percent.Of the deceased, 3,019 are men and 803 women.
The number of deaths per one million population has increased to 23. The country is seeing 1,746 cases in 8,535 tests per one million population. At present, there are 1,15,146 active cases in the country.
Among the deceased who lost their lives in the last 24 hours, one aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 31 and 40, one between 41 and 50, eight between 51 and 60, and 30 others aged above 60 years.
DGHS data recorded Since March 18 show that 0.5 percent of those who died aged below 10 years, 0.92 percent aged between 11 and 20 years, 2.43 percent between 21 and 30, 6.25 percent between 31 and 40, 13.40 percent between 41 and 50, 28.15 percent between 51 and 60 and 48.3 percent aged above 60 years.
Nineteen patients died in Dhaka division, eight in Chattogram division, four in Rajshahi, three in Khulna, two in Barishal and five more died in Rangpur division in the last 24 hours.
With these latest figures, so far 1,831 have died in Dhaka, 858 in Chattogram, 250 in Rajshahi, 313 in Khulna, 149 in Barishal, 179 in Sylhet, 160 in Rangpur and 82 have died in Mymensingh division.
Across the country, 766 more people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 755 were released. Currently, 20,291 people are in isolation.
During the same period, another 1,969 people were home and institutionally quarantined while 2,325 were released. At present, 53,097 people are quarantined across the country.
