Bangladesh-Russia negotiation on Rooppur NPP in Moscow

Dhaka – Deputy CEO for International Relations of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Nikolay Spasskiy yesterday led the Russian part during negotiation with the visiting Bangladesh Delegation headed by the Minister for Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman. A high power delegation from Bangladesh is in Moscow at the moment for bilateral negotiations with Russia on various issues pertaining to Rooppur Nuclear Power Project, including credit agreement. The delegation is passing through a tight schedule to finalize different issues with the concerned Russian counterparts.The Bangladesh delegation included Head of the Prime Minister’s Office M.A.K. Azad, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Economic Affairs M. Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Investment S.A. Samad as well as other senior officials from different ministries and departments of Bangladesh. Dr. S. M. Saiful Hoque, Bangladesh Ambassador to Russia also took part in the negotiations.
They discussed all the issues of cooperation for construction of the Rooppur NPP. The main focus was the tasks related to the entry into effect of the General Contract for construction of the NPP. In particular, they discussed in detail matters concerning the conditions of issuance of the license on the plant construction site, the approval procedures of the Rooppur NPP and the technical assignment for the development of project documentation, as well as finishing approval of the remaining annexes to the General Contract. – Triune group press release
