Bangladesh-Sri Lanka 2nd Youth Test also ends in draw

Dhaka – Like the first Youth Test, the 2nd four-day Youth Test  between hosts Bangladesh U-19 Cricket team and Touring Sri Lanka U-19 Cricket team also ended in a draw on the 4th and the final day at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Tuesday.

The rain-hit first four-day Youth Test between two teams concluded in a draw at Abdur Rab Serniabat Stadium in Barishal last week.

The two teams will also played five Youth ODIs — two matches at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on November 9 and 11 and remaining three matches at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on November 14, 17 and 19 respectively.

Resuming the 2nd innings of the 2nd Youth Test with overnight total 187 runs for 5 wickets, touring Sri Lanka declared the innings for 346 runs for 9 wickets in 149 overs to set a winning target of 177 runs for the Young Tigers on the fourth day.

Nipun Dananjaya, who was unbeaten on 29 runs on the 3rd day, scored 81 runs off 318 balls while Lakshan Gamage and Dulith Wellalage added 45 runs each for the Islanders.

 

Mehedi Hasan and Ashraful Islam took three wickets each conceding 52 and 76 runs respectively.In reply, hosts Bangladesh U-19 team scored 37 for 3 in 14 overs at the end of the final day to settle for a draw.

 

Sajid Hossain remained unbeaten on 17 and Shahadat Hossain on one run.Amshi de Silva picked up two wickets for 10 runs.

Shahin Alam, who bagged seven wickets for 62 runs in the first innings for Bangladesh, was adjudged man of the match.
