Bangladesh starts practice tomorrow for West Indies series

DHAKA —The Bangladesh national cricket team begins their official training session for the upcoming home series against West Indies Sunday.

The players who will return negative in the second phase Covid-19 test, will take the field only. At the first phase of the test, all players returned negative and they underwent a second test today.

Subject to their corona result, at the same day, they will check in to the hotel Sonargaon, where a bio-bubble was created for them.

The players, called up for the series, was asked to report at 10 AM at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

As per the practice schedule sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the players will train for four days at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium before they play two warm-up games amongst them on January 14 and 16 at BKSP ground.

After the second game on January 16, the ODI team for the three-match series against West Indies will be given, said BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan.

“The team is likely to be given after January 16 after the second warm-up game,” he said here today.

West Indies will arrive in the country tomorrow also but they will stay quarantined for three days before hitting the practice pit on January 14. The visitors will play an inter-squad game on January 18 at BKSP.

All of the coaches of Bangladesh, including the head coach Russell Domingo have already arrived in Dhaka for the series. Spin coach Daniel Vettori will be unavailable for the series.BSS
