Dhaka — Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket team captain Salma Khatun said they are upbeat to display ‘smart cricket’ during the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
Bangladesh will fly for Australia to play in the Women’s T20 World Cup on February 2. They will have a 12-day practice camp in Gold Coast before the main event starts.
“We’re hopeful to play smart cricket in the World Cup as well as confident to win at least two games in the event,” Salma told the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur during the official photo session on Thursday.
Bangladesh will face India, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka teams in Group A.“The teams like Australia and New Zealand are really tough. They’re strong, but we’re going to show a smart cricket,” Salma added.
Romana Ahmed, one of the best women cricketers of the country, believes that they have the quality to compete against Australia and New Zealand.
“If we can win against India in the first match, the remaining competitors will be easy for us,” she added. Bangladesh will face India in their first match at WACA ground in Perth on February 24. After that, they will take on Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka respectively on February 27, 29 and March 2.
