Barbed wire fences around change Khaleda’s office look

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office took a new look as barbed wires were raised on the boundary walls of the House yesterday to strengthen the security of the office, according to BNP sources.

The extra security measures has been taken at the advise of the BNP chairperson’s security team following the demonstrations of different pro-government organizations in front of the House located at Road Number 86  protesting the countrywide nonstop blockade since January 6, insiders said.

A member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing said two intruders attempted to enter into madam’s office climbing up wall in last three days. “That’s why the barbed wires were raised considering the security of the BNP chairperson,” he added.

He further said the plain cloths detectives are not controlling the office gate.

Protesters came in near Khaleda’s office on different dates since January 22 urging the 20-party chief to call off blockade that enters 35th day today leaving about 70 people killed, most of them were due to burn injuries, and injured several hundred others.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Saturday threatened to march led by himself towards Khaleda’s office on February 16 to prevent opposition’s terrorism acts in the name of movement.

Land and mobile phone networks, cable and internet connections of Khaleda’s office still remained snapped since February 1. – Staff Reporter
