Barishal Div emerge boy’s champions, Khulna girl’s

Dhaka – Barishal Division clinched the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Gold Cup National Football title beating Chattogram Division by 2-1 goals in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Khulna Division clinched the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Gold Cup National Football crown beating Dhaka Division by 4-3 goals in tie breaker as the final match between them ended in 2-2 draw in the scheduled time at the same venue on Saturday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina graced the day’s finals as the chief guest and later she distributed the prizes among winners.

Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football champion Barishal Division and Bangamata Gold Cup champions Khulna Division received a prize money of Tk two lakh each.

After barren first half in Bangabandhu Football, Towhidul put Chattogram Division ahead in the 48th minute (1-0) while Rashedul restored the parity for Barishal Division in the 66th minute from a penalty (1-1).

Rabbi scored the match winner for Barishal in the extras session of 101 minute
(2-1).

Later, Rabbi of Barishal was adjudged the man of the match and the highest scorer of the tournament while Saiful Islam of Barishal named as player of the tournament.

Azgor of Chattogram was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

In the Bangamata Football final, Kurshida Jannat and Unnoti Khatun scored one each for Khulna while Rawshan Jahan and Sadia netted one each for Dhaka.

Shorna Rani Mondal of Khulna was adjudged the man of the match while Unnoti Begum of Khulna named as the best player and the highest scorer of the tournament. Susmita of Dhaka was adjudged the best goal keeper of the tournament.UNB
