BAU students boycott class demanding technical cadre in BCS

Mymensingh, Sept 11 – Agricultural Engineering and Technology (AET) faculty students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) boycotted class and exams on Wednesday demanding technical cadre in Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).They also formed a human chain in front of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium in support of their demand. About four hundred students took part in human chain along with teachers of the faculty who expressed solidarity with the students. AET faculty dean Prof Dr Md Nurul Hoque, Farm Power Structure and Environmental Engineering department head Prof Dr Raihanul Islam, Prof Dr Md Monjurul Alam of Farm Power and Machinery department and among student leaders Mithu, Kawshik, Abdur Rahman spoke on the human chain.
Speakers said that job opportunity of agricultural and food engineers have been decreasing day by day. Agricultural and food engineers have changed their aims in life as they have no technical cadre post in BCS. So, technology in agricultural field is decreasing for lack of opportunity in professional field of agricultural engineers.
Regular classes and exams will remain closed until the fulfillment of the demand, they said. – BAU Correspondent
