Mymensingh, Nov 11 – Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) staged a demonstration in front of Vice-chancellor’s residence pressing nine demands including increase of the number of ambulance, upgrading the health care center service, resigning dean of veterinary science faculty.Sources said, “A second-year foreign student of the veterinary science faculty Harani Janaki Raman died on Mymensingh Medical College due to asphyxia.
Students of the university claimed that the health care center authority did not take special care and ambulance was not available at that time.
The students also complained to Vice-Chancellor that the veterinary science faculty dean was not student-friendly and also harassed students in different times.
On condition of anonymity some teachers said many students were outraged at the dean because of the disciplinary action against some students for behaving insolently with the teachers. Although they pressured dean in various ways to withdraw the punishment. This is why the students have come down tothe movement.
Dean of veterinary science faculty Prof Dr Nazim Ahmed said, I did not know why the students demonstration for my resignation. It may be for punishment to the students. – BAU Correspondent
