BAU Teachers’ Assoc rejects UGC proposed uniform policy

Mymensingh, Aug 30 – The Bangladesh Agricultural University Teachers’ Association (BAUTA) has rejected the proposed uniform policy that was formulated by University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding the recruitment and up-gradation of teachers’ in the university.In a press release signed by acting president of BAUTA Prof Dr Md Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan and general secretary of BAUTA Mohammad Moniruzzaman on Wednesday evening said that, recently UGC has passed a uniform policy, dividing the government and autonomous universities into four categories and sent to the cabinet for approval. Though UGC said it as a uniform policy but they have divided all universities into four categories. Criticizing the policy they said that the policy for agricultural or agricultural based universities is stricter than other three categories. They felt astonished to have such discrimination policy without any discussions with them.
They also said that if this policy making process not stopping, they would go with tougher movement.
BAUTA general secretary Mohammad Moniruzzaman said, ‘It is a blue print for destruction of our education system. We will resist the policy by any cost.’
Prof Dr Muhammad Mahir Uddin, Prof Dr Md Abdus Salam, Prof Dr AKM Zakir Hossain, Prof Dr MAM Yahia Khandoker presented on the press conference. – BAU Correspondent
