BB for inclusion of financial literacy in school curricula

Bangladesh Bank (BB) is likely to propose the Education Ministry to include the topics on financial literacy in school curricula, said its governor Atiur Rahman on Saturday.Addressing a views-exchange meeting, ‘School Banking’ at BB’s Sylhet office, Atiur said the inclusion of the topic on financial literacy in textbooks will help build a wise and prosperous future generation.
He also noted that the central bank is encouraged by the spontaneous response by commercial banks to launch school banking services, ordered earlier in 2010.
“Financial literacy can wake up hidden demands in people. It also builds public awareness about financial demand and planning,” he said. – UNB
