Dhaka – Bangladesh Navy emerged unbeaten champions in the Bangabandu Shaheed Smriti Hockey Tournament’2020 beating Bangladesh Army by 6-3 goals in the final match at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Thursday.
Ashraful Islam struck two, Mahbub Hossain, Rasel Mahmud Jimi, Moinul Islam Kaushik and Abeduddin scored one goal each for the sailors’ team while Manoj Babu, Milan Hossain and Nayemuddin netted one goal each for the Army.
Moinul Islam Koushik of Navy was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Mahbub Hossain named as the highest scorer with six goals.
After the day’s final, FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, Executive Director of the meet’s sponsor Walton Group, distributed the prizes.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Zaki Ahmed Ripon and acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf were also present on the occasion.UNB
